A defined capture zone
Assess where plates enter the view, the capture distance and the direction of vehicle travel.
Reliable vehicle recognition starts at the lane, not in the dashboard.
STARK plans plate capture around the lane layout, vehicle movement, lighting and the point at which a decision must be made. Recognition can support vehicle logs and authorised access, but camera capture, software interpretation and barrier operation are distinct parts of the system. Each needs testing under the site conditions you expect.
Assess where plates enter the view, the capture distance and the direction of vehicle travel.
Consider headlights, reflections, exposure and illumination instead of choosing a camera by resolution alone.
Agree the event fields, image access, retention and authorised search functions required by your team.
Discuss barrier or gate interfaces, human override and the response to an uncertain recognition result.
Separate expected vehicles, visitors and unmatched plates, with a process that avoids blind automatic decisions.
Test relevant vehicle types and actual operating conditions. Do not accept a demonstration percentage as a universal result.
Share the information available to your team. Do not send passwords, private footage or access codes in the enquiry form.
Not reliably in every scene. Plate capture depends on the view, lighting, motion and device settings. Suitable capture equipment and site-specific testing are required.
A supported integration can be considered, with authorised vehicle rules, exception handling and a safe manual operating procedure. Mechanical safety needs a separate review.
Night operation needs to be tested for the site, including lighting and headlights. A clear daytime image alone does not establish night-time recognition performance.
No universal recognition guarantee is made. Damaged, obscured or unusual plates and unsuitable capture conditions can affect results. A review process should handle uncertain events.
Plan permissions around your people, your doors and the way your site operates.
